    Zambian Giant Mole-rats belong to the same family as Naked Mole-rats and are more closely related to porcupines, chinchillas and guinea pigs than to moles or rats. Mole-rats are native to sub-Saharan Africa and can be found just about anywhere there are plants with large underground roots or tubers, which supply the majority of their diet.
